Current Analysis report urges enterprises to gain control over mobile expenses
Amsterdam, August 14, 2007 – The Current Analysis advisory report titled “Mobilising the Enterprise: The Real Costs and Complexities” is a synopsis of some of the themes at a recent EVUA event. The EVUA is an end-user organization of 70-plus MNC customers representing an ICT spend of EUR 3 billion. The report highlights the problem enterprises are facing of having little control over mobile cost and the struggle to understand and manage this.
“Enterprises continue to face increased mobile spend as roaming and mobile data is on the rise while having limited means to control the usage of it, the situation is further aggravated due to the increasing mobility of employees in combination with the use of more advanced mobile devices and mobile data; enterprises are able to save >20% by improving cost and service management,” said Ron van Valkengoed Managing Director of Ezwim, the leading European Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) provider that offers Telecom Expense Management (TEM) services to enterprises and Online Telecom Management (OTM) services to telecom operators.
In this report Current Analysis describes key enterprise challenges discussed at EVUA. A major theme for enterprises is identifying and changing employee behaviour. For example today it is common to use a mobile whilst being near a fixed line phone and use the mobile for both company and private calls. Most telecom-managers are only guessing how much use of the mobile phone is private although Tax laws stipulate that private usage is being taxed. Changing employee behaviour is a key challenge for bringing costs under control and this can only be done by creating a strong corporate-wide policy for managing mobile services. Today many enterprises do not have a central inventory nor a formal policy for managing mobile devices and have insufficient insight on the actual Total Cost of Ownership, device usage etc.
“During the EVUA event it became clear that enterprises want to act and take control of their telecom spend,” said Ed Vonk CEO of EVUA. “There is a continuing trend to centralise procurement and service management while getting the right support from Telecom Expense Management tools. This will allow enterprises to save millions of euros by controlling and directing usage and by making efficiency gains through for instance remote device management.”
Current Analysis recommends mobile operators to move beyond connectivity and offer a true end- to-end managed proposition. They should offer reporting tools to enable customers to understand the true costs of mobile services. Enterprises should be able to get billing information down to individual departments and users. Current Analysis recommends enterprises to gain control over mobile expense management by centralising procurement of mobile services and devices and consider the support from neutral third parties to offer detailed cost and usage reporting.
Current Analysis recognises Ezwim as a key Telecom Expense Management provider that can help enterprises to gain control over telecom expenses and management. Ezwim also offers a full range of online Telecom Management Services (OTM) to operators.
